MERU PARTNERS WITH CHINESE CITY TO PROMOTE TOURISM
Meru Governor H.E. Kiraitu Murungi has this morning signed a Sister Park agreement between Mt. Kenya National Park and Mt. Huanshan National Park of the Huanshan City, Anhui Province of the People’s Republic of China. The pact signed with Wu Wenda, the Executive Director of Mt. Huanshan Administrative Committee, will pave way for closer engagement between authorities managing the two parks, with Meru County seeking to identify and exploit the massive tourism potential Mt. Kenya, by learning from success of Huanshan Park.
Huanshan City(Mountains) receives up to 67 million tourists annually and they have greatly leveraged on various products and opportunities such cable car technology, construction of steps up mountain and other automated ways of accessing mountain peaks faster, easily and comfortably as well as many five and six star hotel facilities, among others. The County Government of Meru seeks to create investor partnerships to put up such facilities on Mt. Kenya as well as open up Meru for increased number of tourists from the vast Chinese population.
