NMG sign MoU with Meru County to Support MT Kenya Run-in Meru 2020

Meru county government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nation Media Group led by the CEO, Mr. Stephen Gitagama and his colleagues, who will be among the key sponsors on the Mountain Running Championship.

Further, the management of the Credit Bank, led by the CEO Madam Betty Korir met with county officials to explore ways in which they can support Meru County ahead of the coming Mt. Kenya Run – Meru event, whose main focus is to promote tourism and raise funds to set up a Cancer Institute in Meru.

It was discussed, in a separate meeting with Ms. MaryAnne Mwaura, the Public Affairs Head – East Africa and the Citi Bank CEO Mr. Martin Mugambi, ways in which they can partner with Meru County to support subsequent Mt. Kenya Run events as well as the upcoming one.

“We are looking forward to partner with different stakeholders to establish the Meru Cancer Center, which is aimed at providing screening services in order to accord opportunities for early detection as well as treatment.” Said Deputy Governor, Titus Ntuchiu

Meru has, in the recent past, been ranked among the top counties with unusually high numbers of cancer diagnosis made and therefore the funds collected on February 22nd 2020 during the Mt. Kenya Mountain Run, will go towards establishing the cancer Institute, conservation and promoting tourism.
